Blue Meanies Strain Summary
Known scientifically as Psilocybe natalensis and colloquially as “Blue Meanies” or “Super Natal Strength,” this strain has many traits similar to Psilocybe cubensis. However, genetic testing of Blue Meanies spores has confirmed that it’s a unique species of its own. It has been described as a sort of a hybrid between P. cubensis and Pan Cyan (Panaeolus cyanescens) in regard to its chemical compounds and morphological traits. In comparison to P. cubensis, it is vigorous and highly resistant to disease and contamination.

P. natalensis spores are considered one of the more difficult species to work with. Though they share many properties with P. cubensis, there are some major differences that create a learning curve for novices. Warning: Cultivating mushrooms or mycelium propagated from these spores is illegal. Not only can you get in trouble with the law, but they contain much higher concentrations of psilocybin than Psilocybe cubensis strains.
Spore Features
Blue Meanies spores are dark purple to brownish on 4-spored basidia, and usually leave large dark prints that are 30-75mm in diameter. With their high spore count, they provide ample research material.
